Hello all,

We just got back from an amazing long weekend on Bald Head Island, NC.

We rode bikes all over the island, saw lots of wildlife (pelicans, seabirds of all kinds, herons, turtles, deer, lizards, snakes, crabs, osprey, hawks, and alligators!), took long walks on the beach, gazed at billions of stars, hiked in the maritime forest, and enjoyed the ferry ride to and from Southport. This was the first family vacation that we have taken where it has only been the four of us. It was wonderful and we look forward to going back someday.

Jonah has two new teeth coming in on the top and he has done pretty well with them (although we had one rough night). He is pulling up and learning to crawl up the stairs. He is able to clap and wave and continues to work on learning sign language (he can sign “finished” and understands “more” but has not signed it himself). He gives great hugs and has learned to give kisses.

Ella was thrilled to be at the beach and kept asking why we don’t just live there all the time… Hmmmm… I CAN teach from anywhere when I have online classes. We just have to figure out what Andrew could do on Bald Head Island! Ella loved playing in the sand and walking in the surf (the water was warm—78+degrees and the air was nice—mid 70s. However, the wind was quite strong, so even though it felt chilly when you got your feet out of the water, Ella did not care!). She loved counting the turtles in the lagoon and all the lizards that were basking in the sun on the side of our cottage. She and Jonah did great in the TREK Transit and we rode all over the island!

So we are adjusting back to “real” life.

Hope you are all well!
Sarah, Andrew, Ella, and Jonah
