Our lovely summer has come to an end.
We squeezed in one last beach trip to Wrightsville Beach on the weekend before Sarah’s students returned to campus. We met for a fun and yummy Brunch with Jan and her two kids, Tim and Molly. Then we spent to day on the beach and it was perfect. Weather was lovely-hot but not oppressive. The water was warm with great waves. The surf was perfect—not too rough. The kids played in the sand and dug holes that quickly filled with water. We also got to visit with Grandpa Warren and Wendy.
Ella (I mean, Eleanor) started Kindergarten last week. She was a little nervous in the week leading up to her assessment day. However, when the actual day arrived she did so well. The first day started off a little rocky. The bus never showed up at the bus stop. So after waiting for a long time, Andrew ended up having to drive her to school. She was exhausted after her first day. We went out to dinner that night and she asked if she could “just fall asleep in the car” on the way to the restaurant! On Friday, Ella’s kindergarten teacher called her and we were invited to the open house. She was thrilled that her room has a puppet theater and was very happy to explore her new room and play on the playground with her buddy from 3 year old preschool, Isabelle.
Over Labor Day weekend, we enjoyed a cookout with Uncle Joe and Julie and playing some games on the Wii. Ella does great at bowling on the Wii! On Labor Day, we took the kids to Lake Bond and went canoeing. It was a total blast. Jonah wanted to get in the water! The kids really liked the boat ride and they had fun feeding the ducks.
Today was Ella’s first day on the bus. She hoped right on after making two new friends at the bus stop! Jonah cried and kept saying: “Ella.School Bus.” He had a rough time this morning and unfortunately took it out on one of his buddies at “baby school” by biting her! OUCH! Let’s hope that biting does not become a habit for him. Ella reported that she had a great day, went to centers, played on the playground, fell asleep at rest time, and did some coloring. She is totally wiped out this evening—going to kindergarten is tiring!
Hope all is well with you!
Sarah, Andrew, Ella, and Jonah
