This site is dedicated to detailing the installation of an all aluminum LS1, V8 engine, and 6speed T56 transmission removed from a 2000 Camaro Z28 and installed in a 1982 Volvo 245 Turbo Wagon. While this car is not yet running it is well on its way to putting 300 RWHP in a boxy, very utilitarian, Volvo. Hopefully, with the proper work, the suspension and other drivetrain components will be up to the task of keeping the power firmly planted.

The Engine
The Heart of the Beast: This is one of the many test fittings of the engine. Obviously the radiator, radiator fan, a/c condenser, front support, hood, etc. is missing from the front. Don't try to put a V8 into the car without removing all this stuff from the front along with the hood. You will be taking the engine in and out enough you'll want to just take everything out. The Current Engine Bay: This is the current view of the engine bay. You will notice the wires in the back. All of the power wires are running to that red plastic cover which is covering the firewall battery bulkhead. The battery is missing from the front drivers side and has been relocated in the trunk. The engine computer is where the original intake was. It is below the coolant overflow tank. The OEM Mass Air Meter is in the intake plumbing which are various 4" diameter pieces sold by Jags That Run (JTR). Also an intake hose from a 1986 Ford Mustang is part of the assembly because it has a flexible piece and a quick release clamp that is very handy. The radiator is from a 1988 Corvette Heavy Duty and the fan is a two speed unit from a 3.8 liter (or SHO) Taurus/Sable. The fan moves huge air on low and even HUGER air on high. For more details on specific parts of the drivetrain see links at the top and bottom of the page. Don't buy the JTR Volvo 200 series engine mount/crossmember for the LS1 engine swap. It won't work since the engine mounting locations on the LS1 are different for the first time in 40 years of SBC history.
